Communal work

When was the last time you did something for good, something for the community or animals?
Not sure. Long ago. Never.
Then this is the moment to start now - go out and find something you feel strongly about and give a helping hand and change the world.

Toronto skyline

I made it finally down by the lake, where I haven't been yet this summer. Still looks good, the dusk skyline with CN Tower towering over all other smaller buildings.

Mihkel Raud

Mihkel Raud is known mostly as a musician. He started with the band called Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence and later it was renamed to Mr. Lawrence. They created amazing pop-rock music. I still  listen their "Swing" with a pleasure and always with great feeling in my heart. For some time there was quiet and then he became a TV face, was involved with different bands and end ed up even in politics. I am talking about him, because he just stepped out from that world and now taking it cool. This is great when creative people realize what they are about. Stick to your own knitting!

Spring apple

While talking to my mother over Skype, I noticed something red in a very dull spring bush. Taking a closer look I realized that this is a beautiful male cardinal. I took my camera out and made some photos, not very good, because it was taken through the window.

Cosmopolistoronto.com

This is an interesting story.

I was visiting my dear friend in Toronto and she showed me her book of Cosmopolis Toronto. She got it because her husband was featured there as one of the people portrayed. The idea of the book is to capture the whole world in one city, as it is known that Toronto is the most multicultural city in the world.

Click on the photo to read more about the project.

I watched this book together with Evelyn, who is from Ghana. When she saw the photo, she was very surprised, as the person pictured was her cousin! Wow, wow, wow!! From all the Ghanians of the 6 a person she happened to know was in the book.

I of course was interested who would be the Estonian person, and it was Killi, somebody I happen to know as well!

What an amazing project!

Roman Toi 100

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR ROMAN!

Yesterday celebrated his 100th birthday very famous and well-loved composer, conductor and organist Roman Toi. He has brought the magic of music into many generations and continues to enjoy good music and art. I remember my soviet school-book, which was publised around 1984 to mention his name by his photo. I remembered R.Toi, as I really liked the short and interesting. I could never dream that day that I will come to Canada and get to meet him. I have uploaded previously a photo after our meeting for my photography project in 2012. Back then he was still living in his home and was driving, now he has given up on both and is taken care at a home. Hope he will have many good years ahead of him and lots of good health!

Baby sterling

I was interwieving Jeff for my bike blog worldbicyclist.blogspot.com when all of a sudden a baby sterling landed on the frame of his bike, just between us. Luckily I had my camera in my hand and I was shooting away and even did a video of the little baby. He was so curious, while looking at us, at the bike and just thinking what is going on. Fearless. That was his test-flight. Mother soon started calling him and then after a minute he took off and went to his mom and they continued together: he taking a break after every five meters, while mother glided through the air like nothing :) Such a precious moment to see.

Similar or different?

It is intersting that putting a true countryside and urban landmark together brings out actually the similarities of them.
Words are not neccessary.

Calm vol. 97

I love spotting cool bikes in the city. This turquoise and orange combination makes this bike very eye-catchy and I can only imagine the style this female baker has!

Urban space for leisure

I like that companies and perhaps the city councils are trying to create more possibilities for people to enjoy the urban environments. It is a great addition to a sidewalk: sets of chairs and tables to sit down for a snack or just to rest your feet. Not a supporter of Pizza Pizza really, but the outside, all-weather dining area is great!

Haruna

I am glad that there are cool, stylish and sporty females out there, like Haruna from Japan for example. I loved her positive spirit and attitude when I stopped her to take a photo with her and her bike. It is Stroll by Fuji and who doesn't know yet, there is a Mountain Fuji in Japan, which is the highest peak actually in the country.

Get your bikes out and cruise...check out Haruna and other cool cyclists in my World Bicyclsit blog at http://worldbicyclist.blogspot.com

Pearu

I know only one male, not even middle-aged who is a vegetarian. This is him, this is Pearu. What an honor to meet a full man with healthy eating passion. So inspiring! He is so fit, so sharp and so smart. Taught us, girls, how to make some knots. People like him and aspiring, new vegans are true inspiration for all of us.

Song sparrow in a hurry

I am nit a big fan of ugly, out of focus photos, but I really want to believe that this one here can't be categorized as one! I think there is at least one point sharp on this phoeo. So here you have, some blurry, but in motion nature photography!

Pictured ia a song sparrow - a rich, russet-and-gray bird with bold streaks down its white chest, being one of the most familiar North American sparrows. Don’t let the bewildering variety of regional differences this bird shows across North America deter you: it’s one of the first species you should suspect if you see a streaky sparrow in an open, shrubby, or wet area. If it perches on a low shrub, leans back, and sings a stuttering, clattering song, so much the better.

The nude season is over. All is dressed, all is pretty, all is flashy.
I love both.

Welfare society

You can almost put a lunch together in a North-American parking lot.

Too much food we are wasting, too much food is left to rotten.
Be thankful for what you have and eat it up.

Just eat it! and maybe you will get it.

School house

I always have special feelings when I think of my own school house, all those hours spent there, all those emotions lived there, all those people met there....I consider the memories one of the strongest in my life, not necessarily the most important, but the time spent there, definitely shaped who I am today.

And I had a dream
About my old school
And she was there all pink and gold and glittering
I threw my arms around her legs
Came to weeping (came to weeping)
Came to weeping (came to weeping)
