A few years ago I visited Kuno Plaan Bakery and saw how their cakes, cookies, and danishes are made. Wow, what huge amounts of baked cake sheets, and how many....cookies. I have more photos of the visit, but here are some for the whole week.

Summer is approaching and it makes me think of all the places I used to visit then. One of the places was Narva-Jõesuu. It is located on the northern Baltic coast of the Gulf of Finland. The town's name in Estonian and Russian means "Mouth of the Narva", the river which forms the border with Russia. Thanks to its 8-kilometer-long white sand beach lined with pine trees – considered one of the finest in Estonia – Narva-Jõesuu has long been a popular summer destination. In the late 19th and early 20th century it was a spa town frequented by the nobility from Saint Petersburg, which is less than 150 km (93 mi) to the east, and from Moscow. During the Soviet period it was visited in large numbers by residents of the renamed Leningrad, particularly the Russian intelligentsia, many of whom have bought dachas (summer houses) in Narva-Jõesuu or on the outskirts.

This week photos are opposite of the current weather which is a beautiful sunny and warm, no clouds kind of day. The photos are dark, taken in low-light conditions without using flash. Most of these were taken during different disco's and some in other events.

This is one of my favourite shots, portraying an Estonian well-loved actor Mait Malmsten.

This week I will share photos which I took during my first visit to New York City. Now, 12 years later it is a perfect time to look at these and smile. Every corner was so interesting and I had to point my wide-angle lens upwards. Skyscrapers! Yellow taxis! Landmarks!

This little cube was a safe, warm and temporary, but still quite permanent place for 5 months. Perhaps one of the best things happening to me while in Berlin, but definitely the best thing happening there in December! Merry Christmas!

You can still see quite many abandoned or semi-abandoned buildings in Berlin. It used to be one of the favourite cities for squatters.

There isn't much info about these two buildings in Licthenberg, though some online guides call this one of the 10 must's while in Berlin. This kind of happened without me trying really hard. I mean it is nice and all, but is it worth of being one of the most important landmarks in, Berlin? Hardly. This city has way more to offer.

So on this fine day, our host took us out to Lichtenberg to a huge Vietnamese market. Well, since it was my first car ride in Berlin and I haven't really had any pleasure of seeing the city, I took out my camera and captured just some quick shots of the East Berlin.

In December 2017 I landed in Berlin, Germany. One of the most unlikely places for me, where I would love to land. But life has its funny ways, right? Anyway this week's photos are from the times after changing four hosts and landing finally at a wonderful 5th host, and finally being able to see around a bit. I could just leave these photos to forward my impression of Berlin, as this is exactly how the city aligned with me. Not much. But when you don't like something or even hate, life has its ways of showing you also love. So this is written between the lines. All was not bad, but still..pretty much it was.

After posting all these photos I realised that I have mostly been taking planned portraits during various sessions, than the random street photography portraits. I guess I have some skills by now, so I should offer this option to people.

Martin and Liisi, who you see in the next post, came to be models for my photography class. It was a studio portrait class, which took place in the former Estonian National Museum's photography studio. They were wonderful characters and easy to take photos of.
