At McGlone's vol.1

My last photos of my visit to Kentucky in 2009. While I stayed at Tim's, I got to see around a lot and one weekend we spent in the countryside. I was able to roam around and explore the area. I found this abandoned old house, which belonged to Tim's grandparents and was something on its own. I just snapped away...and yes, it all started with a squirrel :D

Kentucky vol.7

This is my best shot from Kentucky. Taken during a crisp November sunset. Gorgeous. Stunning.

Kentucky vol.6

The highlight of my visit to Kentucky was definitely visiting Eastern Kentucky University. Especially its photography department. Tim used to be the staff photographer there. Now it is managed by his former student, Chris I believe.

You can see the old darkroom, kind of falling apart and Chris showing around and also the little studio nook. But it seemed so left...behind. Like it was just a storage space, not a bubbling photography lab.

Kentucky vol.4

One Saturday we drove to the countryside of my friend's parents' place and it was time to hunt. Not my favourite thing at all, as a vegan. That time I was a vegetarian, but still. Anyway, you can see that the gear was on and guns were put out. Luckily on my watch, we didn't get anything. Yayyy!

Kentucky vol.3

One evening we went out to a fully packed Italian sports restaurant. It was so large and it was so busy. What I remember really well was that it was the day of the second movie of the Twilight saga. The film was released theatrically starting on November 20, 2009, and set numerous records. I didn't get to see that movie until many years later.

Anyway, you gotta love this shot of the table. So much good food, but again, meat as well.

Kentucky vol.2

I had also a few options to wander around in the Kentucky forests. Though it was the end of November, nature didn't fail to surprise. So much beauty everywhere.

Kentucky vol.1

After New Jersey, I flew to North Carolina. I have no more photos left, just a couple, not enough to make a week's gallery. After North Carolina, I took a bus to the west edge of the state to Asheville, where my friend Tim, who is pictured here, picked me up to drive to his home in Louisville.

I don't have many photos of the time I spent with him and his family, but enough to share pictures for the next two weeks.

Tim is a photographer and he was giving his weekly class at the youth trade school. I snapped a few while in his class. Too bad, I didn't listen enough. I was too busy being a tourist in Kentucky, that's why.

Mount Washington was great, and you know all the other mountains that were in Vermont, they all offered great visual pleasure.

We stayed for one night at the motel. In the morning a van like this surprised us at the parking lot.

New Jersey blues vol.1

After Philadelphia, I spend some time in New Jersey with my Indian friend and his family. We didn't get to do much, as he worked most of the time. But we managed to squeeze in a weekend in Vermont. This was our fall foliage trip. And foliage was on!

Last stop: West Philadelphia - last week in Philadelphia vol.7

I spent my last week in Philadelphia at Lily's place. He was renting a room with two other people in a residential area in West Philadephia. My stay there marked the end of the three weeks or so in an amazing Philadelphia. My friend from New Jersey picked me up from there and took me to his home. So next week I will share photos from my stay in New Jersey.

At the photographer's studio - last week in Philadelphia vol.6

One of the personal things I wanted to do in Philadelphia, was to meet a photographer and shadow them during their work. I met this young, but a very good photographer at his studio. He had the assignment to take lingerie photos for a newspaper. The Sunday morning lazy kind. It consisted of a wide, lifted bed with two girls having their lazy morning in bed while reading newspapers and drinking coffee. The light setup was great as the studio had lots of natural light and that is what he was using. I snapped some photos on the side and over his shoulder. It was definitely a great experience and something I was able to take with me from Philadelphia.

Deep talk with Howard - last week in Philadelphia vol.5

We stopped, Howard and I by some park, which name I have forgotten. We shared some deep conversations about our lives and shed some tears. These photos were taken like this originally, as we were lying down on our backs and I just turned around and took these two photos exactly like that.

The Liberty Bell - last week in Philadelphia vol.4

Another great sight was seeing the Liberty Bell. The Liberty Bell, previously called the State House Bell or Old State House Bell, is an iconic symbol of American independence. Once placed in the steeple of the Pennsylvania State House, the bell today is located across the street in the Liberty Bell Center in Independence National Historical Park. The bell first cracked when rung after its arrival in Philadelphia, and was twice recast by local workmen John Pass and John Stow, whose last names appear on the bell. In its early years, the bell was used to summon lawmakers to legislative sessions and to alert citizens about public meetings and proclamations.

Belt with my on lips - last week in Philadelphia vol.3

Howard has many interests and skills. One of those is his ability to make moulds of whatever and turn them into whatever :) Yeah, so he can mould your face, nose, lips or nipples and turn them into bracelets, belt buckles, cups etc. He made a mould of my lips and turned it into a belt buckle.

Free concert at the Love Park - last week in Philadelphia vol.2

As we were exploring the excellent Philadelphia, we also visited Love Park. It happens to be one of the most significant sights in Philadelphia. Though the city has lots of sights to offer, Love Park presented a cool concert organized by some youth with live performances and a DJ.
