Common Merganser

Male Common Merganser is 58–72 cm long with a 78–97 cm wingspan, and a weight of 0.9–2.1 kg; males average slightly larger than females but with some overlap. It has a crest of longer head feathers, but these usually lie smoothly rounded behind the head, not normally forming an erect crest. Adult males in breeding plumage are easily distinguished, the body white with a variable salmon-pink tinge, the head black with an iridescent green gloss, the rump and tail grey, and the wings largely white on the inner half, black on the outer half. The bill and legs are red to brownish-red, brightest on adult males, dullest on juveniles.

When we were hitchhiking with Maria, we landed in this wonderful private area, we were kindly introduced my the owners of the place. In the morning we found an amazing view behind the massive rocks.

This is the scene you will see after a long festive part of the prom, when students are so hungry and they just rush to much from the buffet table.

Caught

Not the greatest photo, but I was caught off guard when it happened, but luckily had my camera ready enough to snap this shot of a massive hawk catching a fish from the pond. Easy as that.

This lovely shot from early hours of 12th of September is perfect to greet the wonderful spring, which is sneaking up on us for a while, maybe it is not visible in the streets, considering where you are, but definitely it has creeping in our hearts.

Broad Street Line

Coming from a small country subway has never been much of a talking matter. While traveling I have come across many crazy (Paris, NYC, London) and easy (Barcelona, Toronto, Helsinki) subways. Their names always vary, so does the architecture, age and overall appearance as well. US subways have been the most attractive so far, yet I haven't seen those in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia. I think that is because these places have been around for a while and have this special feel to them.

Here is a little something from wikipedia.org explaining the beginning of Philadelphia's Broad Street Line, which is the orange line:

Service on the northern half of the Broad Street Line, between City Hall and Olney Avenue, opened on September 1, 1928. While the original subway tunnel had been finished to just north of the present-day Lombard-South station, service to the Walnut-Locust station did not begin until 1930; the Lombard-South station entered service in 1932. Service from that point south to Snyder Avenue began on September 18, 1938. Service to a new park-and-ride station built next to the Fern Rock shops began in 1956, and the line was extended further south to Pattison Avenue in 1973 to serve the recently completed Sports Complex.^[5]

The above photo I think captures the idea of the never-ending and cold subway halls pretty well. Human figure on the background adds the perfect touch, the human touch.

Anomaly

Sometimes DSLR's may play tricks on you. Sometimes light is tricking you. Or even computer can trick you when processing the lines. Go figure.

I ended up one day thanks to my friend at a photo fair, which was truly interesting and inspiring. I found most exciting this guy on the photo, whose wife is actually an Estonian. He was very down to earth person and we shared a chat and compared our Estonian coat of arms accessories - he had a ring and I had a belt buckle. 

Wearing this as we speak.
