Hallgrimskirkja Church
Hallgrimskirkja is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Iceland and also Reykjavik's main landmark and its tower can be seen from almost everywhere in the city. It is located at the top of central arts and designs shopping street Skolavordustigur. It is the largest church in Iceland, and the 73-metre high church tower offers a stunning view.
The concrete building was designed by former state architect Gudjon Samuelson and is meant to resemble volcanic basalt rock formations. The church was built over 40 years and opened in 1986. It is named after Reverend and hymn writer Hallgrimur Petursson. In front of it is a statue of Iceland-born Leifur Eiriksson, aka 'Leif the Lucky', the first European to discover America around 1,000 A.D. Sadly he kind of forgot to tell anyone else where it was, so Christopher Columbus got to do it all over again five hundred years later.

Detroit vol.2
This time I will present almost (not a very good) exhibition worthy collection of photos taken in Detroit, which portray weather signs, billboards, murals or graffiti. These photos are telling a story of hope, enjoying life, recession, of course the abandonment. These shots were taken on Sunday afternoon in downtown Detroit.
When I was looking at the photos I started to visualize them as 6 x 6 and then I realized that they all work so much better that way.

Long-tailed Duck
I have had a chance to get to know lives of Long-tailed Duck's a better than ever before, so here are some shots of showing how they are living, how they have fun, dive and hang out together.
The Long-tailed Duck or Oldsquaw (Clangula hyemalis) is a medium-sized sea duck. It is the only living member of its genus, Clangula; this was formerly used for the goldeneyes, with the Long-tailed Duck being placed in Harelda. The Long-tailed Duck is gregarious, forming large flocks in winter and during migration. They feed by diving for mollusks, crustaceans and some small fish. Although they usually feed close to the surface, they are capable of diving to depths of 60m.
The males are vocal and have a musical yodelling call ow, ow, owal-ow.
I can't believe the male ones are so colorful and attractive :O
