El pub

There are many little el pubs in Barcelona. Mostly they are filled with elderly men, who talk about life, discuss soccer or just sip their worries away. I think it fits nicely to the architecture series, as you know I have always taking the theme outside of the box.

It is very hard to get a decent candid shot, so I took this one, as it is the best I have.

Muumi

You would know Muumi if you know some about youth work in Estonia or you have been to several mass crowd events. He was once anchor of a great youth project NoorteTV (YouthTV) and I think many people got to know him there. He has been active in the field. For few years he also participated in my photography class.

Keep your eyes open when you are out and about in Viljandi Folk for example, as you may see him :)

I do not have much knowledge of insects and such, but I love this photo because of the subject and also because of its colors. Please, whoever knows what is the correct name of this species, please let me know in comments. Thank you in advance!

Calm vol. 33

It was great surprise and made me feel the joy of recognition, when I found a little booklet in my mailbox with my photo on the cover. This is second time that my photo has been on cover of a little 411 information booklet for the inhabitants of Tartu, Estonia. Previous sample cam be found HERE.

Reflections

One interesting part of the urban architecture are the many reflections. If you are keeping your eyes open you can find some fine ones.

This was once a Christmas tree. It still continues to be one, but what a tree that is. Excellent! Very creative!

Letter to city council

Dear officials,

I love cycling. I love that Tartu is offering actually pretty good cycling network, so I enjoy cycling in Tartu. Spring is approaching. As the snow has melted, so it seems have the bike paths, too. I hope you will repaint the paths again. Soon. Of course it would be excellent if you could even paint more of those.

Maario

I got a phone call on last January from Estonian Society for the Protection of Animals asking me to take photos of a guy who has done something memorable for animals. That guy was Maario. I met him at his apartment. First with his cats and then with his dog T-Bone. I mean what a great name! It was cool outside, as it was the heart of the winter, but we managed quite okay, as Valgamaalane got photos they could use in their newspaper.

Assar

Assar is one of the most exciting people I know, because he has such a hunger for life and he definitely knows how to enjoy himself. He, it looks to me is living the dream, loving the job he has, his many hobbies, keeps his work and free time in balance, is wonderful with people and enjoys the good things in life. 

I have taken many times photos of him when we have met, but this shot was a complete surprise. I was spending some time in Pärnu with Kadri and while walking in the old town, when somebody was calling my name and I noticed Assar enjoying his brunch. I was very surprised, but of course it was great to see him and have a little chat.

White wagtail

When I was little girl and used to spend my summers at my grandparents, then the first bird I could remember from those times was white wagtail. It had a funny way of shaking its tail when standing or running fast on the ground. It was the most pleasant to a little girls eyes. 

The white wagtail (Motacilla alba) is a small passerine bird in the wagtail family Motacillidae. This species breeds in much of Europe and Asia and parts of north Africa. It is resident in the mildest parts of its range, but otherwise migrates to Africa. It has a toehold in Alaska as a scarce breeder.

The white wagtail is an insectivorous bird of open country, often near habitation and water. It prefers bare areas for feeding, where it can see and pursue its prey. In urban areas it has adapted to foraging on paved areas such as car parks. It nests in crevices in stone walls and similar natural and man-made structures.

Sweet golden hour

Estonian nature is truly one of a kind. Moments like that pictured really do happen. Close you eyes and take a deep breath and imagine a summer like that.

Yeah, spring is definitely on its way ;)

This is the heart of Tallinn. Downtown Tallinn, the urban part, not the old town. Yes, we have a naked huge lady greeting you near a big shopping mall called Viru keskus. I think in black and white it looks great.

This is Kaarel Arb. He is such a multifunctional guy - a film critic, DJ, artist. So yeah, it pays to wear a T-shirt like that then anyway.

Welcome to Estonia!

Detroit vol. 3

I realized that I didn't upload any other Detroit series that I had promised in 2013. That is a long time. Anyway here I am trying to make it up for those who perhaps have been wondering of where are the photos.

This time I am presenting high buildings which were completely abandoned in downtown of Detroit. These photos were taken in April 2011, so I am sure the look of the city has changed somewhat.

Kaur

Kaur is my second cousin. He has always been very special about how he asks questions and acts. Such a sweet boy. This photo was taken of him in his first day of school few years ago. He, as you can see was looking very excited and dreamy. I hope he is doing fine at school and I get to see him soon.
