Canadian Geese

You all have probably seen one or two if traveling in North America. You also probably have heard about company who produces jackets down-filled with the same geese feathers. So where they are getting all the feathers from and what happens to the birds whose feathers has been taken? Can somebody please tell me that?

Knowing how big corporations operate, I would speculate that goose down and feathers are just another product from large-scale goose farming. Geese are raised for their meat, in particular their livers. The feathers and down are just a by-product.

Thank you anonymous. I would like to think like that myself, though I do not like the fact that the geese are raised just for their livers, but at least feathers as a by-product have been used wisely.
